The Seigaku holds an after school practice at which Ryuzaki-sensai announces that she had made plans to have a visiting American school tour Seigaku. The next day, the tennis team arrives at Seigaku and meets the players. They are there as part of an exchange program, so they will be at Seigaku for a few weeks. Ryuzaki-sensai decides it would be a good idea to have an exhibition between the two schools to test Seigaku out against a powerful American team. The captain of the American team, Yoshimura Kai, agrees and they both get down to a combined practice.
Later that evening, the Kai meets with Oishi and asks him to place Fuji in singles two so that he may play against the arrogant Dan Van Damme from the American team. Dan has a smash as a super move and that would play into the strengths of Fuji's Higuma Otoshi. Oishi says he will think about it and they part ways.
The next day, Kai asks Ryuzaki if there can be a practice match with both of the alternates playing each other. She agrees and the injured Oishi offers to play against the American alternate. The American alternate turns out to be Kira Newstone, a girl who came along on the trip instead of the actual alternate who was ill. They play in front of many curious students and the girl turns out to be more than she seems. She is a tennis-tensai, much like Fuji, and nearly defeats Oishi. Oishi barely wins 6-4 and after the match, she reveals that the regulars on the American team are much better than she is.
After the practice on that day, Ryuzaki takes everyone out for some fun on the town and they go to dinner and to a local carnival.
A week later, the matches are held and media from tennis magazines and shows are there in attendance. The matches are as follows:
Yoshimura Kai vs. Echizen Ryoma
Dan Van Damme vs. Fuji Syusuke
Singles 3 vs. Kaidoh Kaoru
Christian Cage/Sexton Hardcastle vs. Kikumaru Eiji/Momoshiro Takeshi
Doubles 2 vs. Inui Sadaharu/Arai
In the first match, Doubles 2 defeats Inui/Arai by a score of 6-3. Arai has problems playing at this high of a level for the first few games and Inui coaches him and gives him a great deal of encouragement and motivation. Arai promises that he'll do his best and that he won't disappoint Inui or his other senpais. He completely changes his game and gets Double 2 running around the court like crazy. They eventually lose, but Doubles 2 are completely exhausted by the end of the match and Arai is somewhat fine. Arai takes off the regulars jersey at the end of the game and swears that he'll wear it again soon.
Seeing as Oishi is injured, Momoshiro takes over his spot in Doubles 1 of Seigaku. They play the nationally ranked team of Christian Cage and Sexton Hardcastle. This match goes a long time and ends up with Seigaku winning 9-7 when they use Australian Formation to the ultimate effect.
Singles 3 defeats Kaidoh 6-3 in a manner to be determined when I create a character for it. ^_^
The match between Fuji and Van Damme starts off with a tremendous pace. Dan uses incredibly odd timing to trip Fuji up so he can get in the Smashing Blue. After the second game, Dan is up 2-0 and they change courts. Fuji is smiling and when Ryuzaki-sensai inquires as to why, Fuji states that he has his timing down. Fuji then doesn't even let up a point and defeats the arrogant Van Damme 6-2.
The match between Yoshimura Kai and Echizen is an extremely good match. They go back and forth, showing off their special abilities. It gets to 8-8 when Echizen begins to take an advantage over the fatigued Kai and gets up 9-8 on him. Echizen gets to match point on Kai and as Echizen serves, Kai remembers why he is here. His younger brother is sick at home with a disease and Kai promised him that he'd defeat Seigaku's freshman tensai for him. Kai shouts that he will not let his brother down and returns the ball into the net to lose the game 10-8.
There is some brief talks between the two players before the American team bids Seigaku farewell the next day to continue their tour of Japan.
